October Bike Packing Trip - you're invited!

Image

We're partnering with the fine crew at New York bike shop 718 Cyclery to plan a bike packing trip through the Green Mountain National Forest. Come ride with us October 2nd - 4th!

Trip planning is very much in process, but we've provided the basic details below. Justin is organizing the trip, so don't hesitate to call or email him here at the shop: (802) 863-4475, or justin@oldspokeshome.com.

The Route:

There will be two separate routes each day: one route for dirt road riders, and a different route for mountain bikers. Your daily miles will depend on which route you choose. Check out Justin's rough map of the routes on his personal ridewithGPS page by clicking here.  Also check out Justin's write-up on bikepackersmagazine.com of the bike packing trip he and Harris took last year in this area (there are some great photos to get you hyped for the adventure).

Camping:

Camping will be at Silver Lake both nights. Camping is considered primitive, but there are fire pits, picnic tables, and vault toilets.  While the ride is self-supported, we'd like to have somebody drop supplies at camp: firewood, beer, food, etcs to make it awesome and easy for everyone. Details about that TBA.

Schedule (in-progress):

It's a 3 day event for the 718 guys, but you Vermonters have the option of a 1, 2, or 3 day ride:

Friday: leave from Lincoln between 3pm and 4pm, ride until sunset, camp at Silver lake.

Saturday: leave from Silver Lake campsite (time TBD), ride all day, return to Silver Lake campsite.

Sunday: leave from Silver Lake campsite, ride until 1pm.
