DONATE A BIKE

WHY DONATE?

Bike donations are integral for our Everybody Bikes programKids Bike Bonanzas, and other programs. Many donated bikes are refurbished, then sold in our shop or on eBay. The bikes that are sold through our shop are available to Everybody Bikes participants at significant discounts, and revenue from both our retail store and eBay store support Old Spokes Home's mission, educational and social justice programming.

All donations to Old Spokes Home are tax-deductible. If you would like a donation receipt, please ask for one when donating.

WHAT WE ACCEPT

We accept bikes that are in rideable or very nearly rideable condition and/or good quality bikes and parts. With your bike, we suggest $5 donation to help us provide bicycles and repair services to all Vermonters through our Everybody Bikes program. We do not accept ebike donations. Many ebike batteries can be disposed of through call2recycle, or through Chittenden Solid Waste District.

WHERE TO DONATE

Donations can be made anytime during our open hours; please note that at peak traffic, we may not be able to accept your donation immediately. Old Spokes Home is located at 331 North Winooski Avenue in Burlington. See Old Spokes Home’s current hours at the bottom of this page.

LARGE DONATIONS

If you are donating 5 or more bicycles, please call Old Spokes Home ahead of time. Bicycle storage is a challenge for us and we need to plan ahead for large bike donations. You can reach us at (802) 863-4475.

SELLING YOUR BIKE

Because we're a nonprofit and we take in so many donations, we don't generally buy bikes. If you're looking to make some money off of your old bike, craigslist or facebook marketplace is probably the best options. However, if your bike is *very* special (read: vintage and fancy), we might consider buying it.
